We assist project owners with Project Development,
starting with project identification, origination, scoping,
conceptualisation and design (i.e. early stage), then moving
to project preparation and packaging, and ending with the
development of a Bankable Business Plan. Our Project
Development activities vary from project to project
depending on the stage at which we get involved in the
project. On a typical Project Development mandate we are
often requested by our clients to assist them with all
aspects of Project Development, commencing with:
- the
definition of the business concept and other important
requirements of the business case;
- next, we assist
them with procurement of pre-feasibility and feasibility
studies (including the procurement of regulatory approvals
such as Environmental Impact Assessments where required,
procurement of legal opinions, application for licenses,
etc.);
- we then assist them with the development of the
project’s financing plan and structure; and
- finally,
we assist them to structure and package the institutional
arrangements for project implementation.
The project
preparation and packaging stage is a very important stage of
Project Development as this is the stage at which the
viability of the project is analysed in detail, within the
context of its industry and the market, financial,
technical, legal and regulatory risks and opportunities and
all relevant assumptions for inclusion in the Bankable
Business Plan.
Project Development is a very critical
activity for a successful capital raising. Our experience
shows that many projects fail to raise capital because they
have been poorly-developed. A well-developed project will
attract financiers and investors much faster and lead to
capital raising and project implementation earlier. Because
we are well-versed with the Project Development process
across various sectors, we are able to take the stress of
completing this important process from project owners.
